The
work you see was done in one day by just two of the Tape Artists, in less
than 8 hours, while carrying on a constant wave of conversations. If all
three of us were there we could have achieved our dream of drawing arm
hairs on all the figures.
The mural is called Point-of-View
because the jungle gym is drawn from the perspective height of a third
grader. So when you stand in front of this drawing on the wall you are
in the shoes of a child and looking up through the belly of the jungle
gym. This mural was an odd one in that it did not have a specific narrative...
it just created a space. This space was universally described by the attendees
as beautiful and peaceful and divine but it seemed to lack... meaning.
In light of its lack of
a specific narrative or direction, Erica and Mike initially planned
to give the mural meaning by giving it the title "Meaning" but ultimately
Point-of-View seemed to encompass more of the interesting elements and
aspects about the mural. |
A rare moment of silence
on a peaceful mural. |
