Day Six: Thursday: The drawing at the Ridgefield Public Library
When we are surrounded by countless literary references to pluck content from, things can get kind of weird.
After arriving at the Library we were directed, in whispers, to the only real blank walls anywhere: the stairwell that leads to the Children’s Library. So what kind of chaos seems appropriate to release upon the quiet literary steps of Ridgefield? Well, at the time it seemed that the only thing to do was a group of seals going up the stairs and a few hundred bouncy balls coming down. Can seals climb stairs? Well, we think they can, but it might be a bit noisy for a Library . . . So they have some help in this case. The headline might read: Good Samaritans Carry Seals, Ball Dam Breaches in Library.
Yeah, Weird. We drew circles, many many circles, and we also had a great chat, naturally in library voices, with local woman about iPhones and iPhone apps and youtube phenomena. And surrounded by books and periodicals, we finished our drawing by the flickering light of our three tiny tiny screens. We apologize to Libraries and Librarians everywhere. The overarching irony of the situation escaped us until we got home.
